Nicole Richie the fashionista goes grungy on family day with husband Joel Madden and their curly-haired cuties

Nicole Richie and Joel Madden showed they are just like any other American family when they celebrated the Fourth of July holiday with their two children.
The celebrity couple took daughter Harlow and son Sparrow for breakfast in Malibu on Wednesday to kick-start their day.
Nicole held on tight to two-year-old Sparrow while Joel walked hand in hand with Harlow, four.

While she is usually dressed to the nines, Nicole switched things up and went for a casual look for the family day out.
The 30-year-old Fashion Star mentor sported a cosy navy blue jumper and cut-off black denim shorts.
She added a touch of grunge to her ensemble with studded Converse trainers and a black baseball cap emblazoned with the word ‘Obey’, completing her dressed down look with messy hair and oversized sunglasses.

Good Charlotte star Joel, 33, was equally casual in snakeskin shorts, a black baseball cap and a grey hoodie.
Meanwhile Harlow seems to be taking after her mother when it comes to her fashion flair as she sported a stylish owl-printed jumpsuit, and Sparrow looked cute in a red and blue striped top and denim shorts.
The foursome enjoyed a meal at Coogies Beach Café, accompanied by the children’s nanny.

And the brood looked delighted to be spending a day together amid Nicole and Joel’s busy schedules.
The clan last month returned from Sydney where Joel was acting as a coach in the first season of the Australian version of The Voice.
Nicole was also getting stuck into some business Down Under, launching her acclaimed fashion line House of Harlow in the country.
